In psychotherapy, the therapist and client enter into a personal and subjective relationship that is aimed to help you, the client, understand feelings (past and present) and discover truths about yourself and your life. Through the process of psychotherapy, our stories are given a voice with someone there to witness and hear it. Our stories reflect our connections to others as a human being. By understanding this complex fabric that we weave, the templates that shape our lives and present relationships are illuminated. These discoveries often lead to changes which allow for a more authentic life.
My practice encompasses all levels of service, including individuals, couples and families. My aim is to provide a supportive and accepting environment to allow change to occur. I am not rigidly attached to any theory, and want to know what works best with each person who comes to my office. I believe we all do the best we can given our resources, and when we focus on the things that are going well in our lives, we often discover hidden strengths that we can then build upon and utilize to solve our current problems.
The ultimate goal I have for my clients is an increased awareness and greater choice in creating a fulfilling life. This includes the capacity to experience a greater range of feelings and create more intimate relationships with loved ones. By creating an accepting environment in the therapy room, I emphasize both compassion for the difficulties we face and provide support for clients taking responsibility for their own growth. People of all races, cultures, and orientation are welcome in my practice.
